THE PROMISE DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER VISIT GENOCIDE MEMORIAL On September 23, two days after the celebration of the 26th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, The Promise director Terry George and producer Eric Esrailian paid a symbolic and emotional visit to Tsitsernakaberd, the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and Genoice Museum, and planted a tree in honor of the late Kirk Kerkorian.

"WE PROMISE" MUSICAL TRIBUTE We Promise, a musical tribute inspired by the movie The Promise premiered at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Yerevan on September 22 with the attendance of RA President Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, AGBU President Berge Setrakian, director of The Promise Terry George and producer Eric Esrailian.
MASTER CLASS BY TERRY GEORGE AND ERIC ESRAILIAN
AGBU Armenia and Creative Armenia hosted a multi-media masterclass by Oscar-winning filmmaker Terry George (Hotel Rwanda, The Promise) and producer Eric Esrailian (The Promise, Intent to Destroy). More than 150 guests, including filmmakers, journalists, and Armenia’s diplomatic corps, took part in the two-hour immersive program moderated by Creative Armenia founder Garin Hovannisian and hosted at AGBU Armenia. TERRY GEORGE AND ERIC ESRAILIAN AWARDED To round out the weekend of celebration and remembrance, director Terry George and producer Eric Esrailian were granted Saint Sahak-Saint Mesrop High Order of Honour - the highest order of the Armenian Apostolic Church - by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. During the Divine Liturgy, a Mass for the Repose of All Souls was held in honor of the late Catholicos Karekin I, Chris Cornell & Kirk Kerkorian. See the photos here.

YSIP OFFERS TOP-LEVEL PLACEMENTS AND ACCESS TO GREAT EXPERTISE IN ARMENIA’S LEADING ORGANIZATIONS The summer of 2017 was much expected for 28 students from the United Kingdom, the United States, Syria, Turkey, who joined the AGBU Yerevan Summer Internship Program (YSIP) and spent meaningful six weeks in the homeland as they gained hands-on professional experience and discovered Armenia. AGBU TO DONATE REANIMATION EQUIPMENT TO MILITARY HOSPITAL IN ARMENIA
AGBU Armenia and the RA Ministry of Defense signed an agreement under which AGBU will donate two ventilators for artificial respiration and a defibrillator monitor to the Medical Department of the RA Armed Forces to upgrade the intensive care unit of the Central Military Hospital in Yerevan. The donation is part of the AGBU Help Artsakh campaign and is made possible by the generous support of the Cherchian Family Foundation and AGBU Marseille. Read morehere.
AGBU DONATES KINDLES TO THE ARMY OFFICERS As part of the continuous support to the army, AGBU donated 1000 kindles with over 160 downloaded electronic books, including professional literature, to the graduating officers.
AGBU HOSTS ARMENIA-BULGARIA BUSINESS FORUM The Armenia-Bulgaria business forum aimed at introducing Armenia's reforms agenda and business opportunities to the Bulgarian delegation, including H.E. Mrs. Maria Pavlova Tsotsorkova, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Armenia, members of the Bulgarian Parliament, representatives of AGBU Sofiaand AGBU Varna, as well as prominent figures from business, tourism, culture, media and IT sectors of Bulgaria. THE DWELLERS OF AGBU YP YEREVAN'S “GRQABATS” ROOM Little by little we are being carried to the world of Tumanyan magic together with Maral. The walls are covered with Armenian folktale characters; you are surrounded with the picturesque nature of Armenian highlands all around. Maral is one of the members of AGBU Young Professionals Yerevan team that has created the first “Grqabats” reading room for the students of School N196 after Ashot Navasardyan - a reading room as if sliced from a fairy tale. YEREVAN HALF MARATHON TO BENEFIT AGBU CHILDREN'S CENTERS
On October 15, Yerevan hosted the third annual Half Marathon, one of the most colorful and festive events in the country. Each year road racing fans, both amateurs and professional runners, adults and kids, join the half-marathon. This year, AGBU Children Centers in Armenia were chosen as one of four charities benefiting from the runners’ fundraising. There were 20 kids representing AGBU Children Centers, AGBU YPs from Armenia and Moscow, as well as representatives from AGBU Armenia, Beirut and New York, at the run. See our Facebook post here.

FRENCH OPERA FUNDRAISING CONCERT FOR KOTI SCHOOL On October 26, AGBU Armenia’s BRIDGE for CSOs programme hosted an Evening of French Opera. The fundraising event was organized by Pahapan Development Foundation, with the support of singers of the Young Artists Opera Program to build a playground shelter for schoolkids at the borderline Koti village. BEDIG BEDROSYAN: "WARFS" The exhibition of works by Bulgarian-Armenian painter Bedig Bedrosyan opened at the National Gallery of Armenia attended by Armenia's Culture and Diaspora Ministers, AGBU representatives, Heads of international organizations, high ranking officials, prominent public and cultural figures. The exhibition was held under the auspices of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians. See the event photos here.
"THREE COLORS" ART EXHIBITION SHOWCASES ARMENIAN ARTISTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD The “Three Colours” Art Exhibition, a tribute to the colouristic tradition of Armenian art, was a join project of AGBU Armenia and Artbeep. The one-month exhibition was dedicated to the 26th anniversary of Armenia's Independence and showcased the works of Armenian contemporary artists.
CLASSIC FRENCH CINEMA - 2017 Season 2 of the French Classic Cinema series kicked off at AGBU Armenia with Louis Malle's "Elevator to the Gallows" with Jeanne Moreau and Lino Ventura and the incredible music by Miles Davis. We also screened Julien Duvivier's "Pepe Le Moko", a 1937 criminal drama starring the one and only Jean Gabin.
FILM SCREENING: "THE LAST DREAM OR GAME OVER" "The Last Dream or Game Over", the final part of the "Coming Full Circle" trilogy on repatriation was screened at AGBU Armenia, followed by a discussion and Q&A with the authors of the documentary Tigran Paskevichian, Ara Shirinyan and Satenik Faramazyan. 9TH REANIMANIA INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL Sean Bobbitt, the producer of the first fully oil-painted feature animation "Loving Vincent"told the amazing story behind the creation of this film. Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is hand-painted by 125 professional oil-painters from all across Europe. "Loving Vincent" was the opening film of the 9th ReAnimania Int. Animation Film & Comics Art Festival of Yerevan. AGBU Armenia also hosted part of the screenings of the festival.

ARGENTINE TANGO WEEK As part of the “Argentine Tango Week”, a series of events organized by the Argentine Embassy in Armenia to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Armenia, on October 9-11 AGBU Armenia hosted screenings of three documentaries - “The Last Applause”, “The Last Bandoneon” and “Feeling Piazzolla”. JIRO: BOOK PRESENTATION Presentation and book signing ceremony of Arevik Dor's illustrated book-album "JIRO" took place at AGBU Armenia. Kids gathered in the hall to meet their favorite writer, watch the animated performance and paint the letters in the album, while the author signed and even illustrated the books for the kids.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR ARTSAKH? In response to RA Diaspora Ministry's "What are you doing for Artsakh" call, a year ago the AGBU Buenos Aires Chapter started a program aimed to support the development of the Motherland. During the campaign 160 pieces of musical instruments were purchased and already provided to the NKR Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism to be provided to various musical institutions according to their needs. AGBU STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEGISLATION AGBU strongly supports legislation to criminalize domestic violence in the Republic of Armenia and to provide support for victims across the nation. Freedom from abuse is a fundamental human right to which a person is inherently entitled regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other status.
