AGBU CONGRATULATES NIKOL PASHINYAN ON HIS ELECTION AS THE NEW PRIME MINISTER OF ARMENIA  
The Armenian General Benevolent Union congratulates Nikol Pashinyan on his momentous election as prime minister of the Republic of Armenia. He has come to office against a backdrop of renewed hope and inspired vision among the people, marked by a vibrancy in the civic life of the country.

AGBU PRESIDENT BERGE SETRAKIAN MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OF ARTSAKH IN WASHINGTON D.C.  
The president of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan and his delegation met with heads of the Armenian American community to discuss state-building issues related to Artsakh and the role of the diaspora in the life of the country.

FIRST NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY PROGRAM TO KICK-OFF IN ARMENIA
The Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Armenia and the American University of Armenia (AUA) signed an agreement to launch the first ever university program for employees of civil society organizations (CSO) and for those who want to acquire professional education in the non-profit sector in Armenia. DR. RICHARD HOVANNISIAN DELIVERS A SERIES OF LECTURES IN CELEBRATION OF FIRST ARMENIAN REPUBLIC CENTENNIAL 
On April 16, 18, and 20, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Armenia and the American University of Armenia (AUA) co-hosted a lecture series by eminent historian Dr. Richard Hovannisian. The lectures were dedicated to the centennial of the First Armenian Republic.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR OMBUDSMAN'S OFFICE AND MEDIA
With a trilateral agreement signed in November 2016 by the RA Human Rights Defender, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and the American University of Armenia (AUA), more than 40 staff members at the Human Rights Defender’s office and local media representatives received intensive English language training.

SEMIFINALS REVEAL THE BEST SCHOOL CHESS TEAMS FROM ALL OVER ARMENIA 
The semifinals, otherwise called the regional round, of the Republican Interschool Chess Tournament took place in Yerevan and all the regions of Armenia between March 20 and April 12. The winning teams from all over Armenia and Artsakh met in the finals from May 5-7 in Goris. Meet some of the winners from Aragatsotn, Tavush, Lori  
AGBU ARMENIA CELEBRATES 112TH ANNIVERSARY OF AGBU 
AGBU Armenia members, scouts and staff celebrated the 112th anniversary of AGBU by laying wreaths at the busts of AGBU presidents to pay tribute to the Union's founder Poghos Nubar and presidents Calouste Gulbenkian and Alex Manoogian.

NOTES ON FILM RESTORATION BY DANIEL BIRD
Why is it important to restore films? What and how much is needed to do that? Daniel Bird from UK, who was involved in the restoration of Sergei Parajanov's "The Color of Pomegranates", talked about this important topic at AGBU Armenia. The talk was followed by the screening of the restored version of Parajanov's masterpiece.

IT FORUM IN SILICON VALLEY HOSTED PRESIDENT-ELECT ARMEN SARKISSIAN 
AGBU Central Board members Dr. Armen Sarkissian, the President-elect of Armenia, and Dr. Yervant Zorian, Chief Architect of Synopsys Corporation and chairman of AGBU - Silicon Valley, were the guests of the IT forum at Synopsys HQ organized by AGBU-Young Professionals of Northern California (AGBU-YPNC)Sarkissian stressed the importance of making Armenia a hub for emerging technologies and encouraged the IT community of Silicon Valley to help build Armenia’s future on new tech applied to fields of education, health and science.
