AGBU 90TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY

On February 9, Armenians from all over the world gathered in Paris to participate in AGBU’s 90th General Assembly at Les Jardins de Saint Dominique. Convened biennially to discuss the organization’s state of affairs, the event unites AGBU members in considering contemporary realities facing the Armenian world, celebrating AGBU’s accomplishments and establishing the guiding principles of the coming years.

DIASPORA IS AN EVER-CHANGING DYNAMIC ORGANISM: VASKEN YACOUBIAN

HASMIK PAPYAN WINS "WOMAN OF THE YEAR" IN AGBU PROPOSED CATEGORY AT PR AWARDS
Opera singer, soprano, RA People’s Artist Hasmik Papyan has won in the category of Woman of the Year at the Armenian PR Awards. She was in Armenia at the time for a charity concert and, availing of the opportunity, AGBU Armenia President Vasken Yacoubian and the President of the Armenian PR Association Astghik Avetisyan invited Hasmik Papyan to AGBU headquarters in Yerevan and handed her the award.

Challenges that Armenian mass media is facing today are numerous.The hot topics of AGBU Bridge for CSO's first Civil Society Talks were:

SOCIALIZATION THROUGH ART
Without the “Socialization through Art” project, initiated by the Cross of Armenian Unity NGO and the financial support of AGBU Bridge for CSOs programme, providing a meaningful art experience for children with special needs would continue to be a challenge for many parents in Etchmiadzin. The newly opened Art Therapy room at Machanents is perfectly equipped to offer art therapy, working (ergo) therapy, sand therapy, fairytale therapy, and speech therapy (logopedics).

TO REVIVE CULTURAL LIFE AND PROMOTE TOURISM
AGBU'S Bridge for CSOs project, which is funded by the European Union, together with Artissimo NGO, unveiled Luse Taniq to the people of Martuni in Gegharkunik Marz. A renovation and modernization project, Luse Taniq looks to transform the public library of Martuni into a modern centre equipped with computer, audio, creative and leisure rooms that will be accessible to people with disabilities and attract tourists. The project looks to preserve the old, while promoting the new in the interest of raising the cultural awareness of the community.
