AGBU HOSTS LUNCHEON WITH ANNA HAKOBYAN AND DIASPORAN WOMEN IN NEW YORK

Anna Hakobyan, founder and leader of two new charitable foundations in Armenia and spouse of Armenia’s Prime Minister, was the guest of honor at a luncheon with Armenian-American women in New York City organized by AGBU. Her visit to New York was the last stop of her 17-day U.S. tour, the main goal of which was to raise awareness for My Step and City of Smile foundations.

AGBU 113TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AND EXPO

A joyful, uplifting celebration of AGBU 113th anniversary gathered people for a Sunday Expo Bazaar, Armenian gastro market, dance, music, games and a fashion show. The evening concluded with announcement of #AGBUinspired photo contest winners, followed by a celebratory reception and a live concert by amazing Rena De and Shiver band.

AGBU Armenia Executive Director Talar Kazanjian and representatives of Armenia’s booming civil society talk at Civicus International Civil Society Week 2019 about the crucial role of Armenian youth, women and Diaspora in the 2018 Velvet Revolution that saw peaceful transition of power in the country.

EMPOWERING WOMEN ACROSS ARMENIA

AGBU’s Women Entrepreneurship (W.E.) program seeks to support and transform female entrepreneurs in Armenia. Since 2017, the program has trained, consulted and funded 70 women to start or scale up their businesses in food production, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, arts and crafts, and other sectors.
With our new #Cycle4Women global campaign, AGBU Young Professionals across the world will ride to raise money and awareness to expand the program's reach and add more women-run businesses in Armenia.

Phase 3 of the AGBU-supported Chess Interschool Tournament revealed the winners from all the regions of Armenia. We congratulate all the winners and wish success in the finals.

MEETING NARINE ABGARYAN

TANER AKCAM'S "KILLING ORDERS" PRESENTED IN ARMENIAN
"...The most difficult part was the decoding of the Ottoman coding system used in their telegrams. It required a lot of time and effort", Taner Akçam.
AGBU Armenia hosted the presentation of the Armenian translation of Akçam's "Killing Orders: Talat Pasha's Telegrams and the Armenian Genocide" book, initiated by NewMag.

ARTSAKH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA TURNS 15

A concert dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Artsakh State Chamber Orchestra took place in Stepanakert. Under the leadership of Maestro Gevork Muradyan, the orchestra has greatly contributed to the spreading and development of classical music in Artsakh. AGBU, together with the government of Artsakh, has been next to the orchestra since its inception and will continues to support it.

CAROLINE SEMERJIAN: SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT
A nature inspired premier exhibition of Carolin Semerjian in Armenia “Same Same but Different” took place at AGBU Armenia Gallery from April 3-16. “CarSem”, as she signs her works, is first of all a colorist. Whether in watercolor, pastel, acrylic or oil paint, she creates intense colorscapes that contrast fields of light and dark.

AGBU Armenia hosted a concert by Srbuk, Armenia's entry at Eurovision Song Contest 2019, to celebratre AGBU's 113th anniversary.

WINNERS OF FRENCH WRITING COMPETITION ANNOUNCED

The results of the "Armenia of my dreams in 2050" short story contest, announced by UGAB France and French Embassy in Yerevan during the XVII Francophonie Summit in Yerevan, were revealed at AGBU Armenia.
The jury decided to award one 2nd prize and two 3rd prizes.
We congratulate all the winners:
- Karmen Apunts, 36 years old, Goris, 2nd Prize (500€)
- Milena Avetisyan, 19 years old, Yerevan, 3rd Prize (300€)
- Hayk Nahapetyan, 20 years old, Yerevan, 3rd Prize (300€)
